Blossom burst

When ornamental cherries from Japan were first introduced in Europe they became an instant hit. The often double flowers lasted longer, were bigger than those of indigenous cherries and came in a single flush in often vivid colours like pink. Although these trees bloom for only a short period of about three weeks it is something I look forward to every year!
